Any good soldier you see in a combat did not just train that day and then moved on to grab a weapon and start wielding it, he had to train extensively and also lived ready for the combat. Just like the analogy of the soldier I gave earlier, to be able to make impact in life, you must be prepared for it. Failure to prepare is an express invitation to failing even before starting.
Believe me, you may not meet the same type of opportunity in exactly the same manner again, so be sure to take advantage of it as it present itself. One way to do this is by living ready and to be able to recognize when opportunities come knocking. This is because, more often than not, opportunities will not announce themselves as opportunities, they may be masked in challenges.
Planning cuts across many aspects of our lives and the benefits are enormous. In the area of savings and finances, for example, if you do not plan your expenditure, your savings and your spendings, you will discover that no matter how much you are paid, it may not last till the end of the month.
In the same way, in academics, if you refuse to study your books and prepare for exams, then you do not expect miracles in the exam hall. Not just preparing, but relevant and timely preparations. For example, if you have chemistry test, preparing with a biology notebook may not be needed at that time. So preparation must be done rightly and timely.

Delayed preparation is as bad as non-preparation. Believe me, life, success, opportunities do not wait for you to get prepared. It is either you hit it when it comes or miss out of it. The truth is, you do not know when the opportunity will come, so you have to be prepared and wait for it. Always remember that you are the one meant to wait for opportunity and not opportunities waiting for you.
Make it a point of duty to keep aside a part of the money you earn for investment and savings. You are not just planning for the now but you are also making plans for the future. Remember, any farmer that eats his seed this year because of hunger will have nothing to harvest the subsequent years and will be greeted by more hunger. In the same way, no excuse is worth eating your future today. Make plans for your future today.
