If you take a look at yourself now and the things you have, you will agree with me that some of them were prayer requests in the past. More so, there are many people that are praying for the same kind of things that you have that you may not even value. If you will be able to look at yourself with the eyes of appreciation, you will find many things to be grateful for.

You may be complaining about lack of material possession, but at least you have your sanity and that is why you were able to know what you have or do not have - so be grateful for that. For the people complaining of having no shoes, have you ever been grateful for having legs with which to wear shoes? Now I ask you, what will be the need of having shoes without having legs to wear them?
Someone may have graduated from the university and may have not gotten a placement in terms of good job. However, if they will be sincere to themselves, they will understand that there are many others whose their only dream is to be able to afford education, but here you are, not valuing the one you have gotten. There are many things that, if you will think well, you will thank well for.
You do not have to wait until you have possessed the entire world before you will be able to be thankful. Gratitude should not be an attainment, it should be an attitude; a lifestyle. The moment when you feel like there is nothing to be grateful for, then take a look at your life now and relate it with where you started from, you will see at least one thing that will suffice - starting with the gift of life.
No matter how low you think you are now, the truth remains that you are not the lowest - obviously there are many others you are higher in status than. Once there is life, then you have a principal thing to be grateful for, because that is the basis upon which all other hopes are hinged on. There are many people with unparalleled brilliance in many aspects of life that have died. But for you, which price have you paid to qualify for the sustainability of life?
I tell you, if life was to be monetized, there are many people that would have been edged out of life - including you. At least this should form the foundation of your gratitude, knowing that you did not qualify for the gift of life, yet you received it anyway.
The story of Nick Vujicic normally motivates me. The man was born having neither the fore limbs nor the hind limbs. That is, no arms nor legs. When everything seemed to be against him, he picked up the fragments of his shattered life and encouraged himself to give life a fair shot. He started with accepting himself and was grateful for life despite his conditions.

Now he went on to become a motivational speaker of renown and even motivating people with arms and legs. All these were because he decided to trail the path of gratitude instead of complaining and complicating his already complicated situation. In life, one thing that I have discovered is that the particular area of your life that you are grateful for tend to multiply. So be grateful.
