※ Do not expect a big-budget action movie with a frantic pace riddled with disheveled jumpscares. Cargo takes us at a calm and thoughtful pace to meet this father in the face of adversity and apocalypse as his life is about to end.
How not to marvel at the beauty of landscapes, certainly hostile? The photography is beautiful. I traveled in apocalypse and Australia with Cargo! Exotic. It makes you want to go to visit this continent. The minimalist staging, the few special effects and the fact that the actors do not overplay give a very realistic aspect to the film.
I really liked the characters presented and their complexities, although they are few. We discover various characters with each, their way of reacting to the loss of a loved one and this apocalypse. It's both fascinating and terrifying of realism. Martin Freeman is excellent in his role as a father.
On the other hand, it interested me a lot to discover the ancient cultures of the first Australian people through certain characters, including that of incarnated by Simone Landers.
Once I finished the movie, I thought, "Damn, I have a feeling of déjà vu!" And for good reason, I saw a few years ago, the original work - excellent in passing - which was inspired by this film! This is a short film of 2013 named Cargo also that was also directed by Yolanda Ramke and Ben Howling.
In short, Cargo is a pleasant surprise that revisits the post-apo genre of zombie intelligently! This is a moving film that remains in memory although it is not great show or unnecessarily gore.
