At the rate we going, it never going to arrive into the world. And we just waiting for phase 0 of eth 2.0 lmao. Phase 0 just starts a sep sidechain that lets you prelock your Eth one way into the new chain. You earn some interest but you basically can't sell it via normal eth ways. Then after a while the current chain will be merged into 2.0 and boom POS. That right it going to take years before POS even comes.....
Second layers are going to be needed the problem is that you need the DAPP(Defi apps too!!!!) to be built on the second layer otherwise no scale. Second layers act like their own networks for the most part....
