In contrast to two services, the mobile telephony operator, Robi Axiata, is calling the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to add Value Added Tax (VAT) worth 183.9 million, saying the operator is unaccountable. So Robi has expressed his refusal to pay this VAT
According to the operator, the cost of the services was paid before the issuance of the circular issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR). Apart from this, there is no logical reason for the company's outstanding claim due to the absence of BTRC VAT registration.
The BTRC gave a letter to Robi on 18th April to pay the remaining 18 crore 93 lakh taka for the fourth generation (Four-G) telecommunications service license and the price of neutral technology. Robi was given seven days to pay this arrears. This deadline is scheduled to end on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Robi made a statement by writing to the regulatory body on Tuesday.
According to Robi's letter not giving VAT, it has been said that according to instructions for the use of wave technology, the payment of the fixed amount was paid to the BTRC on February 5. NBR's Special Circular was issued on February 19 for giving 5 percent VAT on technology neutrality. According to the law, there is no scope for VAT to be issued on the prescribed time of retrospective. So technology can not apply for the neutrality of 18 crore 43 lakh rupees on Robi.
Regarding the absence of VAT registration of the BTRC, it has been said that the payment of VAT on any salable rate is the right of the VAT payer to run it. But there is no such registration of BTRC.
When asked about Robi Axiata's vice president and spokesman Ikram Kabir said in the first light that Robi, as a respectable organization for the country, always wants to solve any problem through discussion and discussion. But the regulatory body claims that the VAT is due to Robi has no legal basis. The matter has been communicated to the BTRC. Discussions are ongoing with NBR.
NBR and BTRC complexes have been running with Robi for two months for the introduction of VAT on 4G license and wave technology neutrality. In the latest BTRC letter, it was said that on 1st March, the first letter was given to Ravi to pay the outstanding VAT from NBR's Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU). Then on March 21, the LTU gave another letter to the BTRC to initiate the arrears. After almost two months, Robi did not take any initiative to pay this VAT.
