In this Blog, Ill show you what are factors that affect internet connection on phones and how to control it.

Bandwidth has a number of technical meanings, since the popularization of the internet, it has generally referred to the volume of information per unit of time that a transmission medium can handle.

An internet connection with a larger bandwidth can move a set amount of information, like video downloads, much faster than an internet connection with a lower bandwidth.

That explains why LTE is a lot more faster than your regular 3G connection.

Now heres the catch. How much bandwidth do you need? Typically, that depends on what you plan to do. Regular Facebook browsing would need less bandwidth than live streaming or viewing video clips from Netflix.

All hail the Internet connection!

Who says they dont need internet? You'd probably not reading this column if you say you dont. ALMOST EVERYBODY NEEDS INTERNET CONNECTION, admit it.

Now, it sucks when you're stuck on a loading page, waiting for the turning wheel to stop then eventually says, hey the page you're trying to load, unfortunately, did not load☺. It's even more irritating if you have important thing to do like you'll video-call someone via Facebook messenger or you're sending a large e-mal file to your boss, 10 min before your deadline and that wheel just keeps on turning.

How can we avoid this?

You need to check the specifications of your device.

Specially for smart phone, its best if you buy a phone who's LTE ready.

Not just that.

Some phones doesn't support a lot of bandwidths.

Logic is, the more bandwidth your phone can handle, the better. Some location wouldn't offer LTE bandwidth and some would.

How would you check your phones bandwidth?

• Dial * # * # 4 6 3 6 # * # * then look for "Phone information" or "Device information"
  
  

• Look for "Set preferred network types".

• ‎ You'd see the bandwidth that your phone supports. You can even choose what bandwidth will you use. Your phone will use that bandwidth that you chose until you bring it back.

Have you ever heard of peak hours? This is usually the time of the day when internet users access the net, in a specific cell , all the same time (Remember the side information I've discussed earlier?). Usually these were heavy activities such as live streaming, heavy downloads and uploads, etc. No matter how advance the technology of your provider, if a lot of consumers were to access the net at the same time, that causes traffic.

Solution? Either try moving to a different location or use a different bandwidth to get internet access.
