Whilst I don't disagree with what you've said, just because we have a resource doesn't mean we should use it. As civilization has grown, especially Western civ, the room and space for wildlife has decreased. When people talk of saving the planet it strikes me they are saying save the way we live. The planet will be fine. However when certain animals go extinct they are gone forever. I enjoyed all the memes.
