Roselle, also known as Hibiscus Sabdariffa has extremely high levels of Vitamin C so enhances the immune system and is great to ward off colds and influenza in the winter months.
It makes a delicious hot drink in cold weather or an equally delicious chilled drink in hot weather.
Bursting with Vitamin C is also contains iron, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium.

An infusion with lemon and honey is delicious, or one can add grated ginger to the mix too, as was a popular concoction in ancient Egypt.

Roselle’s calcium maintains healthy teeth and gums, and the present phosphorus helps in cases of weakness, such as muscle weakness or sexual weakness, impotence or frigidity.

Being high in iron, Roselle is good for maintai healthy pregnancy. It is also a good source of Vitamin A and B2 and B3

The Roselle is harvested from the calyces which turn from green to red as they ripen. The intense dark red colour of Roselle has been used a a dye.

It is a really delicious fruity tasting drink and a marvelous way to stay healthy and I drink it regularly as a preventative medicine.
It is known by various names in different parts of the world as well as Roselle and hibiscus it is also called red sorrel and Flor de Jamaica.
I would like to mention this especially to old-guy-photos@old-guy-photos who has been pondering the efficacy of flu jabs recently. I would take a glass of delicious Roselle twice a day over a flu jab always.

Wishing you a healthy New Year!
