When I was writing my previous post about Busy.org's translation to Bengali, I noticed that my computer was slowing down. Upon checking the task manager, I saw the Utopian tab in my browser was using too much resources. It was using 25% of CPU. I have added a picture of my browser usage distribution below.
Such high usage is unusual for websites. Generally, the browser process (browser.exe) always takes more ram and CPU. But that was not the case with Utopian. The tab was taking 225 mega bytes of ram and 25.7% of my CPU. Generally, a tab like Utopian takes 1%-7% of CPU.
I refreshed the tab and continued to write. After I published the post, I minimized the page for a while to do something else. When I came back, the PC started clogging again. So I checked the task manager. This time both ram and CPU was being consumed at an unusually high rate.
The Utopian tab was eating up almost 1 gigabytes of ram. CPU usage was around 25%. Again, only the Utopian tab was taking more resource than the main browser process (Yandex Browser). Two things may cause such high usage.
Mining script that uses other peoples computer resource to mine crypto currencies or a website code related bug causing a memory leak. I don't think the Utopian dev are using mining script. So, my best guess is that it is because of a bug.
Also, the memory leak is happening only in Utopian.io. All other sites are working fine.
How to reproduce this bug -
OS: Windows 7
Browser: Yandex Browser 17.6
