Bringing a new subject is always interesting. Since I came across an article on some transparent glass which upholds so many functionality and the other day reading about how nature degrading day by day due to human's carefree usage of nature's gifts, I thought why not let's do a little digging on internet and scrap out what innovations some humans around the globe are coming up to drive more sustainable living.
To start with, I would like to bring up the material which took my attention initially on this subject-
This is a breakthrough in Architectural material's countless applications. To be honest this isn't first attempt in decreasing the opacity of solar panels, Things turned out not favourable earlier but the researchers at Michigan State University made this attempt to be successful. A big round of applause to all the hard work they did.
To know why this transparent panel will turn out to be innovative let's know it's implications in simplest way
-Can be placed over window or nay transparent surface.
-Concentrator can harvest solar energy efficiently. Serves purpose!
-Capturing the light, it gets transported to contour of panel which then serves purpose again by generating electricity.
I came through this very interesting picture on Instagram and felt how thoughtful. Later to know it's working and stuff I went to multiple social media platform and finally found what's behind all this.
There's an little farm on the back side of these wheelbarrows which can be used as chair to sit or collectively a bus top may be. Not so sure that it is a bus stop but yes, you can sit there.
In Toronto, Canada this sustainable public space exists. Basically through a rain collection system which grows green beans which are harvested by the locals. Artist John Notten made use of these old wheelbarrows, plywood and recycled lumber and helped create this space.
As stated in some websites that this temporary and may be removed depending on results. But anyways I feel like this might turn out to success.
I didn't knew prior to today that there is a Algae powered building which is actually reducing carbon footprints like seriously!
It is situated in Germany and is termed as first building with Bio-Intelligent quotient BIQ.
Okay what is it all about- actually in the façade there are another outer shells and that have a screen installed which is first of its kind and consists of Microalgae – tiny plants, no larger than bacteria. This building generates all of the energy for electricity and heat from its various renewable sources, not just the energy generated from the algae but the façade then collects energy by absorbing the light that is not used by the algae and generates heat then it's used for hot water in the building or cached into the ground using some technical equipment.
Okay besides these factors which I could recall easily this building also houses multiple resources which makes it one of it's kind, If you want toknow more about it, I have mentioned a link where the details are described.
This is actually next level innovation like to name a factor and this building will have a resource for it.
Must have heard of 3d printed homes and spaces? This is next level. This is Timescapes pavilion and is in Singapore. 'The ambition is to reduce the wastage in construction to almost zero by using Additive Manufacturing, where no removal of material is needed, reducing the number of try-outs for molds, and ultimately reducing cost. Plant-based biopolymer PLA is used as a filament with the intention to reduce the time required for bio-degradation from hundreds of years to a few decades.'- that's what The spokes person has to say about it so I quoted their words.
These ultimately are biopolymers which reduces construction waste to almost zero. It seems very effective in small scale though, but don't know what future have for this technology may be they might bring it to large scale but please don't misinterpret that this will do the work of labours, no. This technology will bring further advancements but keeping the traditional workers intact.
