Back to the oldies..well, 1970's post-punk oldies, that is. For this week's #threetunetuesday, as inspired by 
I shared a few songs of theirs a few months ago for #ttt, but didn't get back to them for a bit. You know how it goes...phases of the Beatles, then Kinks, the Beach House, then the Spacemen, then Slowdive...yikes, I have too many songs to listen to For this week's share, I wanted to get back to simple, sparse, and intense. Minimalist, sure, but always excellent on the ears (at least in my ears, that is).
Where did this one come from, all those years ago? There is a shorter version of Outdoor Miner is their full-length LP. I remember wanting more of it because it was so short. Then, when Napster came along, I found this version and fell in love. This one certainly made its way to whatever I was using to illegally pirate songs for personal use (shhh...don't tell anyone).
Here is another classic example of how wonderful Wire is. I think there is a record store I once saw in NYC called Dot Dash. I'm confident I asked the clerk if the store was named after this song...and highly certain I got a "duh look back." Hey, we Midwestern kids didn't have access to all those big-city venues for music like this. Still, some of us figured it out. Again, thanks Napster!
Last but not least we have another single. I'm not sure what is going on with that cover above, but this song is one where you can hear Wire's influence on shoegaze. Almost a decade before the biggies showed up on the shoegaze science, you can Wire experimenting with the form, all the while throwing a catchy melody behind it all.
