Back to the grind for #threetuentuesday too, as inspired by 
Fast forward to me listening to the Minneapolis/St. Paul's classical NPR station, and it was mentioned that Max Richter was a huge Four Seasons Vivaldi fan. Like many, he loved the composition. He loved it until he heard it played in elevators, on commercials, in movies, on tv shows, and wherever else it is overplayed. That inspired him to "recompose" the piece and led to me hearing Spring 1 for the first time.
So with all that said, let's take a look at Richter and a few pieces I've discovered this week that I'd love to share with my Hive cohorts!
Spring 1
Maybe it's my love of minimalism of late, as refocused by the Spacemen, Spiritualized, and Spectrum. I heard this for the first time (how??), and wow, I was blown away. What a song...I'm not really a Vivaldi fan, but the scheme of the violins in this is quite remarkable. It almost sounds like birds in some far off, surreal, and abstract location. This one is going on the YT playlist for me.
November
I know a lot of people like his piano pieces, but for me, it's his violin works that strike me. It reminds me a lot of Glass or Reich...I'm sure that's not a new thought for most of you. This has the eerie thing going on but builds on a grand scale as we move toward the end. Another one I can listen to at work while doing what I do best: data entry.
On the Nature of Daylight
I'm sure everyone has heard this one, too. I remember hearing this, as I said, once Pitchfork gave it a glowing review. Remember the days of Pitchfork being relevant? I do...anyway, a beautiful piece that too is now on my playlist.
