If you happen to see a photo from time to time that I post on Hive, you might have noticed I love taking landscape photos. I'll be the first to admit it's highly amateur in nature; I'm good with that. Yet, I'll be the first to admit that I love getting outside...landscape photos and whatnot are a nice incentive to go explore, but really it's getting outside.
Last week I watched a YouTube landscape photographer who captured the essence of what I feel like I'm getting at. His narrative was such : he has given up on brands, styles, equipment, and lenses, and getting back to what he wants to doing what he wants to do. That thing he wants to do ? Be outside first and foremost, and let the landscapes and nature photography come to him as he sees fit. What a novel concept!
His last recommendation was don't worry about equipment; just get outside and start shooting photos. Photos can come however...phones, Nikkons, Sonys, analog, whatever...just get outside and enjoy it. He also recommended getting "good" with one style. I dare say I like my Pixel 7 Pro, but to challenge myself, I bought a new 50 MM lens to experiment with. Here it is :
We headed to South Shore this weekend, and my goal is to use only the 50 mm lens to photograph what I see. It's been fun, to be honest; getting a view in that pleases the eye within the lensfinder...it's been a lot of fun so far. So with all that said, more photos to come!
