My #wednesdaywalk, as inspired by 
This walk is a throwback walk, per se. It happened while checking out our “backyard” on Lake Superior, courtesy of a lovely little AirBnb rental we managed to get in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The house itself was located near the town of Ontonagon, Michigan. Located just off of Michigan highway 64, this little gem didn’t have much of a backyard per se, but once through the wild rice and weeds, what a view.
Each summer my wife, daughter, and puppy dog, Ms. Mabel, attempts a weeklong vacation on Lake Superior. More often than not, we have found ourselves along the North Shore, or Lake Superior’s shoreline in Minnesota. This past summer, we mixed it up a bit and headed to the South Shore of Michigan. The biggest differences between the two? The water is a bit warmer in the UP, and there is sand…sand everywhere!
Also of note this time through. Our dog, Mabel, has always been cautious around the lake. Typically she would bark at the incoming waves or attempt to bite them…not this time, so much. This time around, she was much more calm and even attempted to wade in the water a bit. As we liked to say, she’s grown up so much!
As enjoyable as Mabel’s adventures happened to be, we could never let go of the awe and appreciation we had for Mother Superior. I’ve written here and there before about the Great Lake, but there is definitely some attraction we have toward it. So much so that we already have next summer’s week long vacation planned…albeit this time, back to the North Shore we will go. Still…Lake Superior…we are heading your way again.
