Well, the new UI and 3rd Edition cards are here. And I'm confused. Sort of? At first, I was a bit overwhelmed with everything in front of me, but over the past week I've (sort of?) got the hang of the game. Leave it up to #DCity to keep things interesting.
What in the world do I buy now? My goodness; when I went to the Market screen, I was blown away at all the cards. I've got research to do on the new edition, no doubt. In the meantime, I'm going back to good old accounting basics on figuring out how to reinvest my daily SIM. Hey, it's all this demiurge knows, you know?? Who needs Gnosis when you have a spreadsheet?
So what am I talking about here? As I try to digest all of the new information, I'm going to stick to daily buys that are based on a simple payback calculation. For example, today, I went to calculate a simple payback on all first and second edition cards. If I look at a Bank card, I see:
- Bank = gross SIM / day = 30 SIM; the SIM cost = 5,796 SIM
So using my highly simple accountant brain, that means it will take me 193.2 days to pay that card back. Now, if I look at a Farm card:
- Farm = gross SIM / day = 10 SIM; the SIM cost = 775 SIM
Granted, I do have the Technology card +4 SIM/day...so keep that in mind. That translates into a 77.5 day payback. Ok, sold!
Aside from no doubt making my Accounting 101 teacher proud, I went ahead and bought 4 Farm Cards today, netting me an incremental 40 SIM day. I also went ahead and bought a Wind Turbine card too, as it fit my remaining budget and gives me an 87.8 day payback. I don't know, it's the best I can do in the time being.
Now, this strategy ignores things like detrimental attributes attached to Farm and Wind Turbine cards, but I'm going to use this methodology for a week or two and see if I can't maximize SIM earnings. Ideally, I'd like to rotate into any card that gives ms something less than 100 days in payback. I don't know if this will work, but why not try it while I figure out the new nuisances.
No charts this week as I need to collect additional data with the new format, but they will return next week. Until then, good luck everyone. As always, let me know what I"m screwing up and thanks for reading.
