My hope for the future is tied to the past. Not my past, but the past of those who have dared to think, imagine, and create in an effort to transform the world.
I've both met and been inspired by a number of these people, but Carl Sagan helped push me to higher levels of thought than any other person despite the fact that we've never met.
It's absurd that a person like him had to hide behind an alias in order to express his thoughts and beliefs, but absurdity should always be expected when freedom is illusory.
