Saludos a toda la comunidad de Full Deportes, tras una ausencia prolongada, estoy de regreso para traerles lo más importante del acontecer deportivo de nuestro pasatiempo nacional. La postemporada del béisbol cubano arrancó hace solo unos días con resultados interesantes que quisiera compartirles.
Tras confirmarse las ausencias de Cuba y Venezuela a la Serie del Caribe, se retomaron la forma de jugar el Play Off de 7 juegos a ganar 4, y esto le da más interés a un evento que tuvo una fase regular, excesivamente prolongada, y culminó con la clasificación de Villa Clara a la fiesta de los mejores 8 equipos. No pretendo hablar, ni justificar la clasificación de los villaclareños, pues los verdaderos culpables son los que dirigen el béisbol en Cuba, que hicieron un calendario horrible y están pagando las consecuencias.
Contexto rápido: El equipo de Villa Clara ganó 9 partidos de forma consecutiva para desbancar a Pinar del Río del octavo lugar; sin embargo, fue el único equipo que se mantuvo desde finales del 2025 y a inicios de este 2026 jugando béisbol, y sus bates y guantes están calientes y en juego. Mientras los otros equipos estaban entrenando y topando entre si, pero no es lo mismo, entrenar que el juego diario y exigente. Esto sin dudas ha jugado a favor de los Azucareros de Villa Clara que han llegado encendidos a la instancia más importante del campeonato.
En casa de Las Tunas, equipo campeón de las últimas 2 Series Nacionales, los villaclareños han salidos armados hasta los dientes y han logrado desmontar la narrativa de los juegos "regalados" y con los dos triunfos en el balcón del Oriente cubano, suman 11 triunfos al hilo, contando los 9 de la etapa regular. Resulta interesante ver cómo los tuneros que fueron el primer lugar de la etapa regular con 48 victorias y 27 derrotas, ahora sufren con un equipo que escogieron como rival, pensando que sería presa fácil, y resulta que el cazador fue cazado.
A pesar de estas dos victorias en suelo tunero, los aficionados y el equipo de Villa Clara, no deben confiarse, pues la mitad de la tarea está hecha, pero no por gusto Las Tunas es el equipo campeón vigente. El primer juego fue un claro reflejo de la excelente forma deportiva, en la que están los villaclareños y vencieron 10-4, derrotando al pitcher tunero que tuvo marca de 11-0 en la etapa regular, y no pasó de la tercera entrada. Mientras que en el juego de este jueves, los villaclareños vinieron de abajo y vencieron con racimo de 4 anotaciones en la última entrada, para ganar 5-4.
En esta última victoria destacó el máscara de Villa Clara, Leonardo Montero con doble limpia bases, para remontar un juego que parecía perdido con el cerrador estrella de los tuneros en el montículo. Por los tuneros, el jardinero Yassel Izaguirre desapareció la bola para poner la ventaja momentánea para los locales.
Con esta victoria, los Azucareros tienen la posibilidad de buscar 2 triunfos como locales para sentenciar el Play Off, ya que ahora disputarán 3 partidos en su estadio Augusto Cesar Sandino, que sabe lo que es disputar una postemporada, y en donde se coronaron por última vez hace ya 14 años, precisamente dirigidos por su actual manager, Ramón Moré.
Honestamente, no estuve de acuerdo con la forma en la que clasificaron los villaclareños, pero ya que los tuneros escogieron rival, pensando que Villa Clara era jamón, ahora les toca tomar juguito de naranja agria.

Following the confirmed absences of Cuba and Venezuela from the Caribbean Series, the playoff format reverted to a best-of-seven series, which adds more excitement to an event that had an excessively lengthy regular season and culminated in Villa Clara's qualification for the celebration of the best eight teams. I do not intend to discuss or justify the qualification of the Villa Clara team, as the true culprits are those who manage baseball in Cuba, who created a terrible schedule and are now facing the consequences.
Quick context: The Villa Clara team won 9 consecutive games to displace Pinar del Río from eighth place; however, they were the only team that maintained active play from late 2025 into early 2026, keeping their bats and gloves hot and in action. While other teams were training and scrimmaging among themselves, it is not the same as playing daily and under pressure. This has undoubtedly played in favor of the Azucareros of Villa Clara, who have arrived on fire at the most important stage of the championship.
In Las Tunas, the team that has been champion for the last two National Series, the Villa Clara players came fully armed and managed to dismantle the narrative of "gifted" games. With two victories in the eastern Cuban stronghold, they now boast 11 consecutive wins, including the 9 from the regular season. It is interesting to see how the Tuneros, who finished first in the regular season with 48 wins and 27 losses, are now struggling against a team they chose as their opponent, thinking it would be easy prey, only to find that the hunter has become the hunted.
