Storage determines quality. With the latest packagings, cannabis is as fresh as possible as they can. But apart from freshness, there is one thing has to concern, Mold, which used to develop in storage. The mold will affect the health of cannabis, and the moldy cannabis dangerously affects the consumer too.

How the Mold comes into action? When the well-prevented cannabis comes out of the curing room, there won't be any Mold in it. When the cannabis exposed to different and higher humidity levels while storing in containers cause Mold. The continuous opening and closing of the container will cause Mold to the product. Two types of Molds are there, “bud rot” or Botrytis cinerea and Aspergillus.

Botrytis cinerea is known for its destruction of the cannabis plant itself. It works from the stem outwards, starting as grayish-white wisps that eventually kill the bud, turning a dense cola into squishy, moist plant matter. Bud rot is only found on the plants and is most common in dense colas that receive little airflow and can retain moisture. It cannot develop cannabis plants after they have been harvested.

Aspergillus is a very common mold that can be found on more than just the buds of the plant. When found in high concentrations in the air, Aspergillus spores can wreak havoc on those with damaged lungs or weakened immune systems. It is commonly found in soil or anywhere with high moisture content, including the buds of a cannabis plant. Unlike bud rot, Aspergillus can affect cannabis plants during storage.
