Today I’m taking you to a well-known park in the city—Ayacucho Park—which is perhaps the most popular one, since it’s always bustling with activity. The best time to visit is in the afternoon because there are various attractions for children: swings, inflatable rides, electric cars, and other games at an amusement park. Plus, the ice cream shops open, and vendors sell popcorn, hot dogs, cotton candy, churros, balloons, and toys.
On weekends, Ayacucho Park fills up with people, as if it were the setting for a huge children’s party, making it the perfect place to have a good time amid all the laughter and fun. You can also watch skateboarders performing stunts and showing off their skills to the crowd, all in a very pleasant, family-friendly atmosphere.
Because of its proximity to the Manzanares River, you can always feel a refreshing breeze here. However, you have to be careful of the relentless Cumaná sun, as these machines tend to get very hot in the morning and at midday. You can also see the well-maintained gardens and some murals in the area around the ice cream shop.
It’s true that this space comes alive when children are around—their antics brighten up the afternoon. Otherwise, time passes as people walk back and forth on their way to the city center or Ciudad Traki, passing by the playground equipment and machines that seem lifeless in the absence of the little ones.

Hoy los llevo por un reconocido parque de la ciudad, se trata del Ayacucho, quizás el más popular ya que acá a toda hora hay movimiento. Las horas de mayor disfrute son las vespertinas porque se presentan varias atracciones para los niños, hay columpios, inflables, carros eléctricos y otros juegos en un parque mecánico para divertirse, además abren las heladerías y se suman vendedores de cotufas, perros calientes, algodón de azúcar, churros, globos y juguetes.
Los fines de semana el Parque Ayacucho se llena de personas, tal como si fuera escenario de una gran fiesta infantil, así que es propicio para compartir un buen rato en medio de tantas risas y disfrute. También se pueden apreciar a los skaters realizando sus acrobacias y exponiendo sus destrezas ante el público, todo enmarcado en un ambiente familiar muy agradable.
Debido a la cercanía con el Río Manzanares, acá siempre se puede sentir una brisa refrescante. Sin embargo, hay que tener cuidado con el implacable sol cumanés, pues estos aparatos suelen calentarse mucho en horas de la mañana y el mediodía. Por otra parte, también se observan los jardines que lucen un buen estado y algunos murales que están en la zona de la heladería.
Cierto es que este espacio cobra vida cuando están los niños, sus ocurrencias alegran la tarde, de lo contrario el tiempo transcurre con las personas transitando de un lado a otro camino al Centro o a Ciudad Traki, pasando a un lado de los juegos y aparatos que lucen inertes ante la ausencia de los pequeños.
