If you like to use earth splinters, try to rent the following cards: Mylor, mushroom seer, fungus fiend, wood nymph, and grand. If you position them properly, it will not take you 10 battles to complete a quest. Just beware of range attackers. That's the known weakness of Mylor and his team.
