Are they hungry for more posts on Elon? Food? Hive Updates? I can't say for sure. But I do spend a lot of time exploring #all posts on the /trending page, pondering about it.
What follows isn't 'hard data' of actual trends. It's just topics that I've personally noticed popping up when I've browsed /trending lately. But I've always been good at noticing patterns, so I trust my instincts, and thought it'd be fun to share some thoughts on what I've seen.
While browsing 'All Topics', I've noticed quite a few posts about Hive's development and growth. This could be due to the rapidly approaching hard fork. Or due to the most active voices on Hive being fairly committed/invested Hivers who care deeply about it's development. Or because it's a topic that "gets upvotes." Or due to a blend of the above (and more.) Either way, I find it interesting. Lately I've seen quite a bit about "Power Down Timings" & Possible "User Taxation."

I've also seen many newbie-related posts. Either people introducing themselves or people creating posts specifically to help newbies. Possibly because many Hivers are aware of how important onboarding new users is for growth, and the fact that there are many initiatives on Hive specifically aimed at doing this. But again, I'm only going off what I've seen, and it's just an educated guess.

This probably isn't too surprising, given Elon's recent praise of Doge, his awkward(?) appearance on SNL, and then Tesla stopping acceptance of bitcoin. Three substantial public events that would surely get people talking (and posting.)

@pitboyMy best guess for why I'm seeing a lot of this, is that somehow a decent number of vocal makeup fans and artists have found their way to Hive, long before I arrived. I imagine they have a passion for makeup matched with one for public expression in general. Whatever the case, I see quite a few 'daily' makeup posts, as well as more extravagant 'cosplay' style artistry.

@borboletThe last trend I expected to see on a bleeding-edge web 3.0 platform like Hive was food posts, but whether it's "the process of growing" food, or the "process of cooking" it, or something in-between, I do see a lot of these in /trending. Upon thinking about it deeper, it does make sense. I love food, as do most people. It's a universal topic... the ultimate in 'mass appeal.' So posts about it are likely to perform at least reasonably well. Or maybe some Hive founders were big into agriculture and stuff? I really have no clue. Still, food for thought, right?

Other topics I noticed but didn't cover deserve an honorable mention: photography, visual art, NFTs, contests/challenges, etc.
So those are my recent observations, and I'd love to get your thoughts. Have you noticed similar things, or am I just imagining these trends? Do you know why these might be appearing when I browse /trending lately? Do you think this has a deeper meaning for the direction of content on Hive? Or about the interests and behaviors of Hivers? P.P.S. I don't know if 'trending' is as important on Hive as it is on other social platforms, but it is a section with increased visibility and one way I find content on Hive (though it's not the only way I do so.)
