Hey guiltyparties@guiltyparties , thanks for stopping by and offering your input. I gather that you do a lot of wonderful things here at Hive, and this is all really appreciated. :)

I'll do my best to address what you've pointed out...

The best thing about Hive isn't making a few bucks but having somewhere secure to store your content if you're a content creator and somewhere to build on if you are a developer.

I agree that that is an amazing thing about Hive. And it should be leaned on heavily but only in certain circumstances. If the goal is mass-adoption and rapid-growth, these benefits are poor choices for Hive to lean on. Because what you have described above are the main value propositions for content-creators and devs. Continuing with such propositions will simply attract more of the same. A stage full of content-creators and devs with no audience, because Hive has an extremely low amount of 'consumers.'

My suggestion here is to target consumers with one of Hive's most appealing selling points to them, and a feature that makes Hive massively more appealing than traditional platforms.

But if the people spearheading Hive's branding and marketing want to double-down on targeted creators and devs, I totally get it, and wish you/them great success.

Marketing globally is relatively simple, like eating an elephant, you do it in chunks. You market starting with the most appealing target markets, the ones that benefit Hive the most. Personally I'd say that's the US, but perhaps the Hive team sees it differently. Ultimately everything is subjectively viewed, since every human has their own mind, ideas, biases, values, etc. that they filter communication through. Regardless, I encourage everyone to do whatever they think is best and truly wish people success with their endeavors. :)

In marketing, things aren't as simple as 'changing a headline', every other material on the page revolves around and serves the headline. It's how persuasion works. If you want to persuade consumers, the headline must have an incredibly strong point to make, and the rest of the page takes the reader on a journey that excites them about the offer, demonstrates proof, resolves objections in their mind, reduces risk, and ultimately gets them to take action. Still, as I said, you or anyone else is welcome to try their hand and create something.

Getting credibility badges is surprisingly easy, takes a bit of effort/energy/work/grind/hustle though.

  1. Join a press assist site such as HARO.
  2. Pitch content, expertise, stories, etc. to the journalists and publications there.
  3. Have one of your pitches accepted, it gets published, they link back to you / your site / your brand and voila, you can now put 'As Seen On (insert publication.)'

There are other ways but this is the easiest, most straight-forward, and lowest barrier to entry.

Doing this though, one must obey the 100-For-1 Rule of marketing, which means you may have to make 100 pitches before you get one acceptance. Many people don't like this and give up, which is why many PR people have jobs, because they get paid do this 'grunt work' pitching for you.

I can't explain all the details here in a comment, but hopefully I've provided some value to you regarding credibility badges.

To wrap up...

All my posts are meant to be insightful wisdom and instructional teachings. In my eyes, what I've written here is literally the best , clearest, most well-written, back-by-experience perspective on brand-direction I've seen on this blockchain, and I hope people take positive value from it.

I've written pages in the comments already to explain further and clear up people misconceptions, and provide further value, clarification, and insight. Many in the comments section here agree with what I've offered, while a handful do not.

I know better than to try changing people's entrenched beliefs with words alone, so I'm happy if I'm even able to create some discussion. I truly intend for everyone involved to emerge better for the experience.

Anyway, thanks again for the great comment. Wishing you an awesome day. :) 🙏
