I didnāt set out to give my foster dog a job.
Honestly, I was just doing what every dog owner doesāwalking him twice a day, making sure heās fed, watered, and getting enough attention to stay balanced. Nothing special. Just part of the routine.
But if youāve ever worked with a dog that needs a little extra structure, you know those āsimpleā walks arenāt always simple.
Some days itās progress.
Some days itās pulling, distractions, and resetting expectations every five steps.
And still⦠you show up and do it again later that day.
At some point, it hit me:
Iām already putting in this time every single day.
Not just walkingābut training, reinforcing behavior, building trust.
Thatās when I heard about Vetted Pet Health.
It tracks the things Iām already doingāwalks, feeding, playtimeāand gives me Care Coins for staying consistent. Those points can be turned into real value for pet care like food, grooming, or vet expenses.
Nothing crazy. Itās not replacing income.
But thatās not really the point.
What changed wasnāt the routineāit was how I saw it.
Instead of:
āI have to go walk the dog againā¦ā - the old me
It became:
āThis actually counts for something.ā - My Dog Has a Job Now
Thereās something about that shift that makes you show up a little differently.
You stay more consistent
You pay more attention
You follow through even on the days you donāt feel like it
And ironically⦠thatās exactly what the dog needed all along.
So⦠Yeah. He Has a Job Now.
He doesnāt know it, obviously.
To him, itās just:
Going on walks
Getting rewarded
Spending time together
But in a weird way, heās contributing now too.
The same routine thatās helping him improve is also helping cover part of his care.
Food, future vet visits, things like that.
And that feels⦠fair.
I started out just trying to help a dog get better training for his forever home.
Now:
Heās improving
Iām more consistent
And the process is giving something back
Same walks. Same effort.
Just a smarter system behind it.
If youāve got a dog, youāre already doing the work.
Youāre already walking them.
Already feeding them.
Already putting in the time.
Might as well let it count for something.
