About Me:
Hi @Ryn here, after getting 200+ followers I figured I better get around to introducing myself:
I am in my 30's now and have been living in the Vancouver area my whole life.
I'm not much of a traveler, I have only ever left the country once which is fine by me because I love it here in British Columbia but perhaps there are a few places I would still like to visit.
My trip to The Grand Canyon And Red Rock Canyon:
My main recreational activity is Camping, my first post was a Summer Camping Guide which I think at least a few people saw and was the first thing I had written for any website.
Camping / Outdoors is what I would mostly like to focus on for Steemit, as well as general photography / videography.
I also like to Resteem posts I find especially interesting, helpful or just funny.
My Initial Impression of Steemit:
I found out about Steemit ~3 months ago and was dubious at first, but decided to give it a try because although there are things I would like to share with people, I don't care for the traditional social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ / YouTube etc.
There is the demo of Viewly out, but I grudgingly made (or rather re-purposed) a YouTube account so I can start sharing videos because (at this time) you can not embed the Viewly videos on blog posts.
Although there can be a tremendous amount of spam and nonsense to sift through on Steemit sometimes (obvious bots), which put me off at first but I guess it is to be expected when people think they can make a quick buck, there is also quite an assembly of very intelligent and creative people here, which is why I stayed.
I have learned so many new things from Steemit, mainly about cryptocurrency which I knew almost nothing about previously, very fascinating stuff.
I also made my first Bitcoin wallet with mycelium on Android:
My Strategy:
I'm not making big money off of my posts but that was not really the point, I am just glad that a few people seem to be enjoying them, I've tried to gain some initial traction by investing my own money (around $1000) into STEEM POWER, and also over $100 in STEEM DOLLARS for using the various boosters and thanks to them for the help in getting started:

Sadly I've run out of STEEM DOLLARS, so no more boosting for now :(
Not sure if it is the best thing to do but I have been setting all my posts to Power Up 100% which seemed appropriate.
I try to do as much curation as I can but I'm always running out of voting power too quickly, it does feel good to go through a popular post and sorting through dozens and dozens of garbage spam comments to bump the good ones with even just my meager upvotes.
In Conclusion:
I'm glad someone recommended this platform to me as it has been a lot of fun, I have really enjoyed seeing the photography and interesting / informative blog posts.
I am cautiously optimistic about the future of Steemit and my small investment in it, there is so much potential but also so much apparent abuse as well, it is hard to say what the future will hold.
So many of you who are intelligent and creative seem to have kept it going. It must be (or have been) very demoralizing for some of you with such good content but not being noticed in the sea of spam; keep doing what you're doing, you've got my upvote if I find you!
