Probably a good idea if she's a little bit rough though those types of books can usually take a fair bit of punishment. It's the lift the flap onbes that are made of cardboard (like the Spot books or any popup ones) that you really have to watch or maybe definitely wait til 4-5 XD
All the baby books we had were given. Got a few children's books that were mostly presents, we were otherwise generally boring and read them whatever we were reading XD
A couple of the kids' favourites were Diary of a Wombat and Diary of a Baby Wombat by Jackie French and The Runaway Hug by Nick Bland. They don't rhyme or have touchy feely bits (so maybe when she's a bit older) but they are adorable and the first two have wombats and the last one has a dog and a house that I think all parents can relate to XD
