If I have another stroke, I hope it kills me or gives me a superpower.

I hope you don't have another stroke :S but if you do I hope you get a really cool superpower or it at least fixes the other stroke.

you are 53, you can't exercise like you used to!

INCORRECT you (generic not you personally) just can't gung ho into it like you used to, when we're old we have to ease into things more like taking half an hour to warm up when we could just about jump straight in once upon a time XD

I like to tease Eldest and his friend about being "old" (they're 21) as they take ages to cool down after class and if we have to do workshops in the morning Eldest only half jokingly starts stretching before even going in saying he needs to do his "pre warmup warmup". Even at that age they've noticed that along with feeling the need to spend longer on warmup and cooldown (things they used to impatiently rush when younger because it's boring) it takes longer to recover than it used to (plus longer to get back onto something if they got injured/scared). So some stuff is going to slow down in spite of everything.

Like while I do need to do more jumping up (I usually block jump up things but lately I've been lazy and kind of bouncing up in stages or vaulting up everything including things I can easily jump up) I usually jump down and I have noticed my knees have decided they just don't wanna sometimes and I am jumping up or off things very regularly at work.

Kids naturally jump around and play, until their parents sit them in front of screens and games to keep them busy.

Or distracted so they can "just get it done"! This used to drive me mad with my mother in law but I was never going to complain to her face because when the kids were little I asked if she would be able to please come around and hang out with them and do stuff with them (take them out or whatever or do whatever around the house and just be there for the endless questions and interactions that happen when you homeschool) and she decided she was going to help with the housework instead and because the kids helping slowed her down she kept putting them in front of games or tv shows so they wouldn't get in her way all the time.

I still made them do chores so they know how to clean and do laundry and cook, Middle is doing alright but the boys still "forget" or find every excuse under the sun about why it's literally impossible for them to ever do anything at all. Eldest will do specific chores I tell him to do shortly after I've told him to do them but can't seem to figure out how to just do standard maintenance tasks before they become disgusting without being specifically told to do them

It is also funny, because I don't think the future is very bright, nor do I think I will leave far into old age, but I still believe that being healthy is important

Making the world (or your world, or the interconnected worlds of your family and friends) better happens just as much in tiny barely discernible increments as in giant obvious leaps.
