What is a movie without music? Yes, there are bad movies which really have cool soundtracks and sometimes there are good movies which have bad soundtracks. The movie and music industries work hand in hand to bring viewers the best and by the best, a movie can’t do without music.
At times there are special songs which are dedicated just to a movie. What I mean by this is that there are songs which have been composed just for the sake of a movie. I’ve watched a couple of movies just because of how dope the soundtrack was. I’ve also watched some movies even without knowing that they have very good music but ended up falling in love with the song.
One of the movies which I enjoyed a lot with its soundtrack was 5 feet apart. First feet apart is a movie that features a cystic fibrosis patient called Stella. Stella has been to the hospital all her life due to this illness and can only ever be out of the hospital when the trial that she’s on works.
Stella ends up falling in love with another patient with the same illness called Will. Will has the same sickness as Stella but with Will, his own is in a different stage. They end up falling inlove with each other but they have to make sure they are five feet apart always to prevent making Stella’s case worse. They invent new ways of coming into contact with each other as the movie goes on until both of them find themselves in an awkward situation.
From the onset, I seemed to like 5 feet apart very much. Maybe it’s just me but I seem to be attracted to movies which depict scenes that can actually happen in real like; this might be the reason why I fell in love with 5 feet apart instantly. As the movie goes on Stella loses her best friend to the illness but is determined to get better.
The thing with five feet apart is that you never get to hear the song that I like so much until the ending scene. The song is titled Anchor by Novo Amor. This is played in the ending part of the movie when Will and Stella have to make the toughest decision of promising not to see each other again.
The thing is because Will’s situation is serious he is undergoing a totally different type of treatment. His kind of treatment is a try-your-luck type of treatment. With Stella all she has to wait for is a donor of an organ and then she can go home, she has waited for the donor all her life and just a simple mistake could mean her spending the rest of her life in the hospital.
The final part is a really sad scene as the two lovers need to find a way of saying goodbye to each other. The addition of the song makes it even sadder. The way the song is inserted, the musical instrument and how it’s blended with the scene makes the song very hard to miss. Sincerely before this movie, I never heard of Anchor but after the movie, I searched for it and played it.
Anytime someone hears it the first thing they ask me is if it’s I’ve watched five feet apart. So meaning I am not alone, most people might have only heard about the song after they watched 5 feet apart. If you haven’t watch 5 feet apart I think you should watch it. It’s a really cool movie and it tells us the importance of physical touch when we do have the opportunity. It’s a great movie.
