The moment arrived when I headed to Bari's train station to catch my train. The journey was pleasant, with ample space due to Covid restrictions. It was the summer of 2020, and I had promised someone I'd be in Germany by June to assist them in moving to a new apartment. However, it was already July 25th, and I was just boarding a train in Bari on my way to Naples.

I didn't know where my transfer point was; I only had a location name. Fortunately, everything worked out, and I made my connection at the right place, catching the next train to Naples. I arrived in Naples at midnight, and the hostel I had booked hadn't responded to my messages. I checked Google Maps and found that the hostel wasn't far from the train station, so I decided to walk there.

The path I took was less than exciting and appeared more dangerous than I had expected. Groups of people, mostly Africans, were congregated like gangs, and they bothered me as I passed through. When I reached the supposed location of the hostel, it was nowhere to be found. The situation became a mix of adventure and anxiety, and I was left without a place to sleep. I'll be sharing more about this experience in an upcoming blog post, so stay tuned and follow me.
