Is a species of the Ananas genus originating in Bolivia, Brazil and Costa Rica. The term "pineapple" was adopted because of its resemblance to the cone of a conifer; the word pineapple is of Guaraní origin, from the word naná naná, which means "perfume of perfumes". Ananas is a Latinization that derives from the previous one.
