They don't make songs like the used to, especially long, epic songs. This week I want to introduce you to three long tunes that are over 5 minutes each. Warning: Not for the attention span deficient!
First up is Rush's "Red Barchetta". I have listened to this tune since I was a kid in the 80's never realizing we would almost be in that dystopian future sung about. "a gleaming alloy air car shoots towards me two lanes wide....".
Second is more metal as it seems metal heads have a love for drama and long songs. From one of the most epic album of the 80's, Operation Mindcrime, Queensryche's "Suite Sister Mary".
If you have never heard Operation Mindcrime, it's a concept album. The story of powerful politicians, a junkie, a nun and priest. How the junkie is used by the politicians to kill the priest and nun. It's an incredible album musically.
And lastly a tune that's also a history lesson, Iron Maiden's "Alexander The Great".
Thanks to @boxcarblue for introducing me to #TTT and
@ablaze for dreaming it up.
Thanks for listening!
