Greetings Steemians!

I’ve been quietly exploring the Steemit community for a few weeks now, and I am really impressed by what I’ve seen so far. I’ve been wanting to become a more active participant in the Steemit community, but I’ve been dreading writing the "introduceyourself" post for a while now.

About Me

That's me - a selfie taken a few years ago

Well, I’m a middle aged guy that lives in the north east part of the USA that is commonly called New England. You could say that I’m a quiet person that doesn’t have much to say until I get to know you. I work in the Information Technology (IT) field at a state university, mostly doing application development and server-side scripting. Computers are something that have always been easy for me, and thankfully it is something that I’ve managed to make a living with. Building computers from parts, configuring them, writing software for them - I enjoy that.

As for hobbies, I enjoy photography after getting back into the hobby a few years ago. I used to work with film years ago, and would like to work with it again some day. In addition to photography, you could say that my other major hobby is food. I love to cook, and consider myself reasonably good at it. Cooking is important to me as hobby because I find it to be a creative outlet, and not just something I have do every day. I also like to eat well, and knowing how to cook the foods you love at home is a great way to avoid having to pay extra to eat out.

What Hope to Accomplish

For a while now, I’ve been looking for a creative outlet that is more than just another Facebook or Instagram. I have a bunch of photo content that I generate, but the content never really goes anywhere after I offload the pictures from the camera. Since Steemit seems to value original content, I figured this might be a good place to call home. I can’t promise high quality pictures, but it will at least be original. Besides, I need an excuse to practice more, and if I can make a few pennies here and there, it might just motivate me to remember bring my camera with me more often.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope you like my work.
