Greetings, fellow Splinterlands warriors!
This time, my experience in Splinterlands was a little different. It didn’t start with a regular battle, but with Lux’s Favor.
When I spun the LUX’S FAVOR wheel, I was quite surprised when the pointer stopped right on the horned skull logo. It turned out I had received a Pit Challenge. This was where I had to defeat a monster to earn Sparks.
Interestingly, I was given three difficulty options: Easy, Normal, and Hard. Each one, of course, offers a different amount of Sparks as a reward. Since this was my first experience, I decided to start with Easy.
Not because I was afraid, but simply because of a basic principle: size up your opponent first before trying to act like a pro.
My first opponent was Al the Mountain, a monster with 35 Health, 5 Armor, 3 Speed, and 7 Melee Attack. Looking at those stats, I actually thought, “That’s pretty tough for an Easy opponent.”
Luckily, I got a pleasant surprise when I chose Archon Aurendrak.
The Aurendrak I used was Level 2, and it turned out that in the Pit Challenge, I could use high-level monsters. That meant I didn’t have to fight with underpowered cards. All of my monsters could show their full potential.
I then put together a team consisting of Port Guardian, Buns the Unseen, Saltwater Mage, Mystic Scaleweaver, Vaelok, and Ratbound Corsair.
The lineup felt comfortable because I had a solid defense up front, along with several sources of damage coming from different positions. With my cards at high levels, I also didn’t have to worry too much about facing Al the Mountain, whose melee attack was quite powerful.
And it turned out my assumption was correct.
The battle went much more smoothly than I expected.
Al the Mountain certainly looked intimidating with 35 Health, 5 Armor, and 7 Melee Attack. But with all of my monsters performing at their maximum potential, the pressure I put on him was simply too much to handle.
One by one, the enemy’s defenses collapsed until I finally managed to defeat Al the Mountain.

The reward I received was 250 Sparks.
It wasn’t a huge amount, but for me, the most valuable part was the experience of figuring out how the Pit Challenge works for the first time.
There’s one thing I found particularly interesting about this experience.
I initially chose Easy because I had no idea how difficult Normal and Hard would be. Now that I’ve seen how the mechanics work for myself, I’m actually even more curious.
If I can get through Easy relatively smoothly, I’m starting to think: “Why not try Hard directly if I get the chance next time?”
In my opinion, that’s one of the fun things about a feature like the Pit Challenge. You’re not just chasing rewards—you also get a chance to test your own abilities.
For new players, my advice is simple: use Easy as a place to learn the mechanics first. Once you understand your team’s strengths and the challenge patterns, don’t be afraid to increase the difficulty.
And if I get another chance, I already have a new goal:
Go straight for Hard!
