Hello, how are all you Splinterlands warriors doing?
I hope everyone is still healthy, still strong, and still enjoying smashing virtual monsters on the battlefield. Because in Splinterlands, once you enter a Brawl, winning and losing can sometimes feel a lot like crypto prices: smiling today, sighing tomorrow.
Hive itself is still hovering around $0.04167. Not exactly a number that makes your chest puff out with pride. But hey, that's crypto for you. Who knows, maybe a fresh breeze is coming soon. We'll just have to wait and see. While waiting for Hive to recover, it's certainly better to keep playing and collecting something more certain: experience.
And this time, I'm back with another story from a Brawl with the ClaNFT Guild.
Just like several previous Brawls, I was once again assigned to Fray 12.
I'm starting to feel like Fray 12 is my second home. This time, I had 5 battles that I was supposed to play, and of course I filled all of them with the teams and strategies I thought made the most sense.
But there was something interesting.
Of the available slots, there were 4 automatic wins because the opposing guild didn't fill their matches.
Now, those kinds of wins are certainly nice.
No need to build a lineup and think too hard.
No need to get nervous waiting to see whether the first attack will hit its target.
But honestly, automatic wins don't really make me feel like puffing out my chest. I want to test my own strategies on the battlefield, rather than simply accepting victories because the opponent's seat was empty.
Out of the five matches I actually played, I ended up suffering 3 losses.
So overall, my contribution this time was:
6 wins and 3 losses.
That result gave me a contribution of 18 points for the guild.
Not perfect.
But not bad enough to make me want to hide my cards under the mattress either.
What kept me smiling was the overall result for the ClaNFT Guild.
The Brawl competition was pretty tight this time, but we were still able to secure second place.
And of course, there were rewards coming into the guild's coffers:
For me, the additional SPS is still interesting because it helps increase the amount of SPS I have staked.
Little by little.
No need to rush.
After all, if you keep accumulating small amounts, eventually they can turn into something meaningful.
There's another thing that has me pretty excited.
After the rewards from this Brawl came in, my Merits savings have reached 16,867 Merits.
My target is 20,000 Merits.
That means I only need around 3,133 more Merits.
I could probably try to speed things up by relying on chest rewards or other sources of Merits. But I prefer to be patient.
Maybe one or two more Brawls.
If the results are decent, I could reach the 20K target.
And after that, it'll be time to open 10 Gladius Packs.
Looking at my personal results, I still have some homework to do.
Six wins and three losses isn't a bad result. But those three losses from the matches I actually played reminded me that opponents in Brawl should never be underestimated.
There are more and more cards.
Strategies keep evolving.
Players are getting better at reading the rulesets.
And the most dangerous moment is when we think we've already figured out the best strategy, only for the opponent to show up with something we never expected.
That's the interesting part.
Brawl forces me not to get too comfortable.
I have to keep paying attention to card combinations, abilities, monster positioning, mana caps, and of course, the battle rules.
Sometimes one small mistake when building a lineup can be the difference between victory and defeat.
So, that's the story of my Brawl this time.
Personally, the result is still far from perfect. But 6 wins and 3 losses were enough to contribute 18 points to ClaNFT.
More importantly, the guild was still able to hold on to second place in a pretty tight competition.
My Merits have also reached 16,867.
Just a little more to go before reaching 20,000 Merits.
I'm choosing to be patient and wait for another Brawl. Hopefully, after that, I'll have enough Merits to open 10 Gladius Packs all at once.
Hopefully, the contents won't just be cards that make me say:
"Well... not bad."
Instead, I hope there's at least one card that makes me jump straight out of my chair.
For now, let's just enjoy the process.
See you in the next Brawl, fellow Splinterlands warriors.
May Hive rise again soon, may our strategies become sharper, and may 20K Merits come knocking on the door soon.
Greetings from Fray 12!
