Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!

This time, I tried out a rather interesting defensive combination using the Target Practice, Taking Sides, and Holy Protection rulesets. I chose Franz Ruffmane as my Archon, alongside Pelacor Conjurer, Djinn Renova, Captain Katie, Thanalorian Archer, and Iziar.

The key to this strategy lies in Iziar's Taunt and Thanalorian Archer's Lookout. Target Practice grants Snipe to Magic and Ranged monsters, while Lookout reduces damage from Snipe, Sneak, and Opportunity attacks by 1 for monsters adjacent to it. Combined with Holy Protection, which grants Divine Shield, this formation has the potential to become a real headache for the opponent.

On the opposing side, Pembrook Nymph brought Commander Slade, Relenor Cleaver, Djinn Oshannus, Shock Trooper, and Hardy Stonefish. Looking at that lineup, I was fairly confident this battle would be intense.

Iziar Starts Doing His Job

From the beginning, I positioned Iziar as my Taunt monster to draw the opponent's attacks. I placed Thanalorian Archer strategically so that Lookout would protect Iziar. And the results were quite interesting! The opponent's Snipe attacks became weaker, while my monsters continued putting pressure on Djinn Oshannus, who was the primary Snipe target.

When Iziar started taking damage, I was briefly worried that my defensive formation would collapse soon. But surprisingly, he managed to hold his ground remarkably well. Iziar really was like a solid wall that was difficult to break through.

The Following Rounds: The Opponent Slowly Falls Apart

Besides having to deal with my monsters' attacks, the opposing team also suffered the Electrified effect every round. The combination of Iziar's protection and Lookout's damage reduction made their attacks feel much less effective. Meanwhile, Electrified continued eating away at their HP.

Little by little, the opposing monsters began falling one by one. My defensive strategy turned out to work just as planned, until victory was finally mine.

Lessons from This Battle

I'm becoming more convinced that Lookout is more than just an additional ability. Under the Target Practice ruleset, this skill can be an incredibly valuable defensive tool.

If you ever get the chance to fight under similar conditions, try positioning Thanalorian Archer next to the monster you want to protect, whether it's a Taunt monster like Iziar or a vulnerable backline monster exposed to Sneak attacks. Don't forget to take advantage of the Divine Shield from Holy Protection to strengthen your initial defense.

Sometimes, winning isn't about having the biggest attacks, but about knowing how to survive longer while making your opponent run out of steam!
