Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!
Over the past few seasons, I’ve been doing Brawls with my guild. Battle after battle, I kept pushing through. Sometimes the results were exciting, while other times I found myself staring at the screen thinking, “Why on earth did I choose that team?” But that’s Brawl for you. If everything were easy, maybe it wouldn’t be called Brawl.
After several seasons, I finally managed to accumulate around 11,000 Merits.
That number got me thinking about the Guild Store. With that many Merits, I had enough to exchange them for 5 Gladius Packs.
Five packs.
That means 25 Gladius cards waiting to be opened.
And as usual, whenever I see a pack, my expectations are pretty simple: hopefully there’s something inside that makes my inner wallet happy.
I headed straight to the Guild Store and exchanged those 11K Merits for five Gladius Packs.
I’ve done this several times before. But strangely enough, the feeling of opening packs never really changes. There’s curiosity. A little bit of excitement. And, of course, the hope of seeing a card shake—that magical sign that a Legendary card is about to make an appearance.
I decided to open all five packs at once.
Open Multiple.
Then I selected Flip All.
One by one, the cards started revealing themselves.
Out of the 25 cards I received, the results were 2 Epic cards, 9 Rare cards, and the rest Common.
No Legendary.
No Gold Foil Legendary.
But there were still several cards that caught my attention and were worth keeping as part of my collection.
One of the cards that immediately caught my attention was Quora Towershead.
This Epic card made its way into my collection once again.
With a combination of Magic and Melee attacks, along with abilities that make her extremely dangerous once she starts building momentum, Quora Towershead is definitely not a card I want to see standing on the opponent’s side of the battlefield.
Besides Quora Towershead, I also pulled Gorth, which became the other Epic card from this opening.
Then there were several Rare cards joining the haul, including Orella Abadon, Alfredo, Palidon Rakk, Isgald Vorst, Relenor Cleaver, Sarius, Kotriphus Bayne, and Cutter Brieze.
Meanwhile, the Common cards included Krash Wanderford, Bertrol Gobson, Helmet Kharafax, Chimney Wallstop, Whistling Damon, and Hugo Strongsword.
Interestingly, some of the cards appeared more than once.
For me, duplicates like these are never really trash.
In fact, those extra copies are exactly what slowly help push cards toward the next level.
Sometimes we get so focused on waiting for rare cards that we forget that Common or Rare cards accumulating BCX can actually provide more immediate and noticeable progress for our collection.
Honestly, if you ask me whether I was disappointed about not getting a Legendary, the answer is: a little.
That’s just how opening packs works. Of course there’s always hope.
Especially because I’ve managed to get a Legendary card from a Gladius Pack before. So, without even realizing it, I was hoping that luck would strike twice.
Apparently, luck doesn’t follow a schedule.
This time, my five Gladius Packs didn’t give me a Legendary card. But 2 Epics, 9 Rares, and a bunch of Commons are still meaningful additions to my collection.
Quora Towershead and Gorth were the two names that caught my attention the most this time. Meanwhile, the other cards, including the duplicates, will slowly become resources for upgrading my collection.
For me, the lesson from this opening is simple: don’t judge a pack’s results only by whether or not you get a Legendary.
Sometimes the growth of a collection is actually built from dozens of copies of cards that may look ordinary at first.
And it all starts with something simple: keep playing, keep joining Brawls, and keep collecting Merits.
Five packs are gone.
Now it’s time to get back to work.
