Sometimes you don't expect a good hotel when booking through Priceline bidding process. I am used to specifying a four star hotel, placing a bid for about $50 and getting an OK hotel somewhere in Downtown, USA. But, this time it was really different. I did not expect to get a room at Le Meridien for $50, and somehow I did. Maybe it was the Labor Day weekend, or some other hotel economics, unknown to us. All I can say is that we absolutely enjoyed our stay at Le Meridien by the Galleria. The hotel is newly renovated and upscale. I didn't care about the reviews that said they "didn't like the interior". Sure, it is not a traditional "grandpa" lavish look. The hotel has a very modern feel and look to it. Everything in the hotel has a very clean, sort of contemporary Italian look to it. One of the major conveniences of the hotel is that it is located right across the street from the Galleria. So, if you are traveling with family it may be a big plus in your wife and kids eyes. At least that's how my family responded to it. We spent a half a day at the Galleria shopping and went straight back to the hotel to relax in the swimming pool and hot tub. I noticed that many reviewers complained about the $20 valet parking. Well, the Galleria has wonderful parking right across the street also. I personally never pay hotels for parking and just find a spot or lot nearby. So was the case this time. Sorry, Le Meridien, I thought that free parking at the Galleria garage was just as good. My whole family loved the breakfast at the hotel. The food was much better quality than at many hotels we had stayed at before. Smoked salmon with capers and cream cheese was to die for! The staff at the hotel was super helpful. Our son had left his toothbrush at home, we called the front desk and asked for one. 5 minutes later a girl brought three toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouth wash for all of us! Generally, the staff was very responsive and helpful regardless of what request we had. We will definitely try to stay at this hotel again on our next trip to Dallas
