The biggest advantage of banana cultivation in the country is that it can be cultivated in the highlands of almost all regions of the country throughout the year. Apart from this, there are many varieties of banana cultivars like 'Banana banana', 'Bangla banana', 'Mama kalas' and other varieties of banana cultivation.

According to experts, about 40-50 varieties of banana are cultivated in Bangladesh. Among these varieties, the names of Amrit Sagar, Sabri, Kabri, Champa, Singapuri or Kabuli, Meheshasagar, Kant or Bichi Kala, Kanchala or Anaji Arts and Shishali Kanya are worthless. Three agricultural producers of Barisal-1, Barikala-2 and Barikala-3 have been released from Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute.
