Well, Daz isn't a 3D modeling software (they have Hexagon with which you can model), it's mostly a posing and rendering software (Edit: also animation but I don't use that). You can use it to build scenes with simple shapes and also to load in a character and pose them as you want with exact precision. Another very useful feature is lighting, as I once I have the scene lightened in Photoshop, I can go back to Daz and fix the lights to render already with my scene's lighting.

So mostly, I use it for rendering chars (some free, some purchased), add clothes (same), compose artworks sometimes, and always for light rendering or at least reference. It's easy to learn and does the job even with only free resources for the most part.
