Ancient Olympics

Hi there!
This is a commissioned artwork made in December 2017.
It was meant as a Christmas gift for the client's father, a marathon man who is featured closest to the camera.
Since there aren't really any standing coliseums nowadays I built the whole scene from scratch using photos of Greek and other Mediterranean buildings and landscapes.

The original photo was taken with an analogue camera here in Barcelona a few years ago and the quality isn't the greatest, especially the color.

For artworks like this I always start with a perspective grid. Eyeballing everything is a really tough job, and the grid helps not only with everything's vanishing point but also with determining what size each element must have.
Since I didnt want to change the original photo's lighting very much, I designed the whole scene's lighting to fit it as much as possible.
