Takipsilim
(Twilight)
When I see the lamppost lights up in every streets and trees shadowing on the paths It reminds me of my early years.
As I recall during those days you have to be home before "takipsilim" (sunset). Its not just there's a curfew but its my dads rules that you have to be home before dark.
He used to tell us stories of scary creatures comes and roam around finding little kids and ate them. Some they call aswang describes as creatures that is in human form and becomes big animals like dogs or cats..
There's also manananggal and describes as human that separates its upper half body to its lower half and can fly and find pregnant women and eats their unborn child. Those are just few stories that dad had instil in us when we were kids.
But the truth is there's no such things in reality! Its just Filipino folklore pass feom generation to generations to make kids go home before dark falls.
Those were the days.
Now history repeats...you cant see people roaming our streets not because were scared that there's a mythical creatures wandering around after dark but because of the curfew. The local government put curfews because of the pandemic.
I think I like it this much! Lol! Its so peaceful and I feel secured. Better be safe than sorry.
And that's all there is to it.
