A path full of painful traces marked with tears, blood and memories. An album of indelible and often insurmountable photos, we leave pieces of our life around us that have a powerful voice and that is capable of erasing the image we offer to the world of ourselves, but also those traces corrode the soul to such an extent that sometimes it makes us invisible. This story is based on real facts; facts that even through time we continue to ignore but that are really important. We all deserve love, understanding and support, many times a hug, a word, an action can save a life. In memory of all those orphaned children, of all those elderly who were abandoned by their children, for all those people who were raped and abused both psychologically and physically and especially for all those people who wake up every day broken but decide to overcome fear, harm and even their own mind. It is time to see a little beyond our own lives, to see and feel empathy for those who have had bad times and sometimes those traces are marked in a coffin, on a sidewalk or even in your own home. Sitting on a sidewalk, on the corner of a street covered by the light of the lighthouse and the clock ticking eleven o'clock at night, a cold breeze that lulled me and raindrops that covered me completely; that was just me, a twenty-one year old girl; without the slightest idea of where to go or what to do to not feel so lonely. A part of me had been abandoned in a farewell, one that shattered my soul into a thousand pieces and changed my world even though I didn't know what would happen next. So much hunger and so much fear at the same time, fear of not seeing the person I loved again, fear of being stuck from that moment on and above all fear of not finding my way home. They say that life is not fair, but one decides whether to stand up or surrender to the situations and is that not all of us have the same characters, not all bear the burdens, not all overcome and does not mean that we are cowards or weak because the battle against depression is between you and your mind and we should not feel bad about falling we must always keep in mind that we are human and that often no matter how hard we fight there are many who reach the stage of saying the end. Likewise in those decisions, those stages that for horrible reasons have been forsaken many people lead a life of difficult decisions, one of loneliness and trials that many of us do not even imagine. Many of us walk the streets and see people lying on the ground sleeping with cardboards on top of them covering them from the rain, with horrible smelling blankets and their clothes torn and at the same time many consuming and inhaling glue which gets them high. We see those people walking and we turn away if one of them approaches us and perhaps some doubts will cross their mind like, how did they get to be like this? While others will say they took the easy way out and lay down to die, but very few of us will consider the story behind the cover we see in front of our eyes. There are stories that I have heard that have left me with bristling skin while others have given me pity, although no one is worthy of pity, one of those stories is about a girl that a colleague of my work that I met many years after what happened in my life. Yaismar, that girl who lived relatively close to the office where we worked, saw a young girl who could be between sixteen and seventeen years old, she was sitting on a sidewalk with a pot of glue stuck on her nose; her appearance was so unpleasant that we had to pass quickly in front of her but there was something important that we both noticed and that is that we cared about her situation, so much so that we saw her every day that passed and we asked ourselves thousands of questions and that many times we wanted to have answers but we did not look for them.
