Hi Steemians! As I mentioned in my last post I have been off the grid a bit. I spent last week in Arizona on vacation and visiting family. Having never been to Arizona I did not know what to expect. I figured it would be sandy and really hot. It sure is hot but the amount of lush plant life really surprised me.

I have a step-brother that lives in south Phoenix. We took our kids to visit their cousins and they asked us if we would like to go on a scorpion hunt at night. At first I thought they were pulling our leg. I had never heard of a scorpion hunt and my knowledge of scorpions is they sting and it hurts real bad.

They were not kidding. This is something they really do. They bought all the kids special UV flashlights that are specif for finding scorpions. You wonder around the yard flashing the light on rocks and walls. When you do find one they glow as if they were radioactive. The picture above shows the scorpions we collect in the jar and how they look with the light on them.

The kids had a blast finding them. When one would be located they would scream "Found one!!" That was my sister-in-law Michelle's cue to come over with the kitchen tongs and grab it to shove in the jar.

All-in-all we caught 6 scorpions. The cousins had a great time showing there out of state novice cousins the ropes. I was really glad we were not skunked as that would have really disappointed them. The pictures below show their excitement after the hunt.

Have you ever been scorpion hunting or hunted any other odd creature? Tell me about in the comments!

I hope you enjoyed this post!
