I get a change of pace from working in the rock quarry this week. We are tearing down a grade school that was replaced with a new school. This is the old one...
We start the project by poking a hole in the side of the building so we can get 2 skidsteers inside. I just walked the excavator forward to poke the hole. We didn't want to tear into the roof yet.
The exterior walls are concrete block and metal stud framing.
When we got the skidsteers inside, we used them to tear down the interior walls and push everything into a pile next to an exterior wall. In 6 hours we completed 80% of the interior demo.
We will separate the metal from the rest of the demo. Metal goes to recycle, other demo to the landfill. When we take out the concrete it will be recycled at our rock quarry. Less than 15% of this building will go to the landfill. Everything else is recycled.
Stay tuned, tomorrow we start loading trucks!
