Do not confuse writing recursions directly into your code vs the concept of recursions. In this video I use one simple definition to iterate over every combination from multiple arrays (permutation with

I'm not talking about code in this video, but rather some basic concepts in regards to permutations and/or combinations. Once you understand the idea and the process, expressing it in code becomes a lot

Code itself is simple. Thinking in binaries might not be. Fundamental concepts will be the foundation later when you're trying to understand why certain code gives you certain results. Repository: Lightbulb

Here's another example of nested for loops. Combinations and/or permutations with larger numbers become more complicated, but with 4 Aces and 2 choices we can pretty much hard code it (like I did in this

In this video we create a deck of cards (dealing and playing we'll do later in this playlist). We use nested for loops (or double for loops) to iterate over every card. Tutorial Playlist: Repository: Any

This is a continuation from the last video. Pls make sure you check out the playlist: With templates, you can perform "identical operations on two or more types of data": Kinda like a

Often you'll see people arguing over differences in finite state machines vs state machines, or state patterns vs state machines, etc. In this video I used the terms interchangeably, but on a deeper level

With keyboard/mouse input and a renderer, you can start building your C++ 2D game right now. Tutorial Playlist: Repository: olcPixelGameEngine: Any questions/comments? Join us on discord: Intro: (0:00)

olcPixelGameEngine is my favorite 2D game engine. olcPixelGameEngine (repository): OneLoneCoder: CPUs vs GPUs As Fast As Possible: Tutorial Playlist: Repository: Any questions/comments? Join us on discord:

We'll get deeper into details like transparency later. First let's make sure you can render a sprite. olcPixelGameEngine Documentation: Tutorial Playlist: Repository: Any questions/comments? Join us on

OLC PixelGameEngine is one of my favorites. Unity has fancy shaders/renderers/gui/etc, but it's bloated. This engine cuts right to the chase and is pretty much the best learning tool for anyone who's serious

Let's not get confused by define, ifdef, ifndef, else, or endif. "A macro is a fragment of code which has been given a name. Whenever the name is used, it is replaced by the contents of the macro."

We'll get deeper into const char* later. For now let's not get confused by the syntax. You can still change const variables using pointers but obviously that's not why I made this video. Tutorial Playlist:

A couple points here. Calling the array name usually results in the implicit conversion to a pointer that points to the first element. Null character (or terminating zero etc) denotes the end of a string.

Here's another quick example (similar to video #21). It's a single game mechanic where player gets random weapon/item drops. I'm using the stuff I talked about in the previous videos so make sure you watch

Try building your text game (or a game mechanic represented in text). UML stands for Unified Modeling Language. Use it to visualize your code and understand it better. You can also use it to understand

Operator overloading to write simpler code. We use Vector2/Vector3 as an example. Tutorial Playlist: Repository: Any questions/comments? Join us on discord: Built-in operators: (0:00) User-defined operators:

Understanding pointers/address and how memory works is essential if you're serious about building any app or game. This is probably not the best example since std::vectors themselves change size and address

Weapon inheritance.. Fundamental idea is simple. Detailed implementation may be a lot harder to understand. We'll get to those later. (6:42) For value vs reference check out video #13: Tutorial Playlist:

For automatic memory allocation (also known as "stack" allocation), object life cycle is based on scope. For dynamic memory allocation (also known as "heap" allocation), object life
