An unfair and somewhat misleading view. The apt on the left has no windows and almost zero landscaping. The single family home has lots of greenery. These buildings face west and in the summer months the afternoon sun blasts on them. The people in the apartments can't afford a home like the one next door and can't plant anything in the narrow strip of earth in front of their building. The landlords don't give a fuck. They do not want trees because of the "Insurance" and other bullshit reasons. All they want is your money.Pay up or get the fuck out. Renting has changed a lot from when I was young. The people with property are far more vicious than they used to be. I didn't even understand I was a blue collar working class person growing up. I've seen the division and separation from the middle class and above much more clearly over the last 30 years. I look back and can see so many instances when I was younger and excluded and put in my "place" by people who's family owned homes. Huge gulf between us.
