Maybe. Probably just a choice. It does simplify things to stick with something consistently. I'm all over the place and that confuses people. It pissed off a teacher I had in college. There's a thing I rebel at constantly and I will try to put it in words.
The idea that an artist should be able to create works in every style and duplicate the great masters. Then when you can do that then you can be yourself. In order to paint completely abstract non representational works first you must master drawing like Michelangelo. It's absurd. If you look at music that would be like telling Neil Young to play a perfect copy of Django Reinhardt. Of course there are people who actually can do things like that so it really makes a shambles of the whole thing.
RE: I'm not sure how to get back to painting with colors and all that. I miss it.
