Are there people that we should love and people that we should dislike? In life, we tend to treat people differently due to certain experiences we have had with them. Most of us have love for our families, our friends and other people close to us. But what about our enemies, is there a possibility of expressing the same love towards them?
In Matthew 5:44, Jesus is found speaking expressly to the people, admonishing them to equally love their enemies just as they love themselves. Many people find this task to be the most difficult. But this is what He has commanded that we do. Love is not meant to be restricted to anyone, no matter what may have transpired between the both of you.
We are the ones who have decided to discriminate, because God doesn't discriminates. In the following verse, it tells us how God makes the sun to shine both on the good and the evil, as well as providing rain for both kinds of people. Why then should we treat some people with love and treat others differently?
This is not supposed to be so. Love is by doing good deeds, even to your enemies and expecting northing in return,. we see this in Luke 6:35. A love being expressed with the expectation of getting something in return is not a genuine love.
