Before we marry, we must take into consideration whether our partner is from the Lord or not. If we fail to observe this, it could result in a problem later in the future, after we may have married. We see one of the traits that convinces us of a partner that is meant for us by God.
Proverbs 19:14
House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
One of the ways we can be sure that a partner is meant for us is if that person is prudent. As men, this is a gift from God to them because the scripture says it comes from Him. The same thing goes for we women as well. While we seek a partner, we should look out for this attribute.
We should be sure that prudence is the wisdom of God and not of the world. The Bible speaks of people who are prudent by the wisdom of the world; we see this in 1 Corinthians 1:19. A person with such prudence may not be fit for us.
But someone who lets his mind be ruled by the wisdom of God is who you should seek for. We shouldn't be in a haste when choosing a partner. This is a matter of "till death do us apart." If the person lacks prudence, we should not go through with it.
If we exercise patience, we definitely will come across people that possess this trait. We shouldn't make the mistake of compromising the happy home that God has designed for us simply because we ended up with the wrong person. Many people live the rest of their lives with this regret.
We should not neglect this factor. If it means us terminating the relationship then we should do it. Exiting a relationship that doesn't guarantee a positive future is one of the best decisions we can ever make.
If we fail to do so we may end up not finding that person that is made for us. Having a happy home is dependent on the choices that we make today. If we make the wrong choices we would have to deal with the consequences. But if we make the right ones, we'll do ourselves much good.
