It sounds to me like there is demand in the Hive ecosystem for an escrow service.

In the early days of bitcoin, before exchanges emerged, bitcoin transactions used to happen between members of the bitcointalk.org forum, with some trusted senior members providing an escrow. People still do business on that forum using the escrow service.
