When I was a child, I read an Enid Blyton book about a secret island where they made a house out of willow stalks. Anyway for a long time as a child I was convinced that a house could be built out of stalks, but was confused that the only wood I came across was tiny twigs, rather than stalks big enough to be walls of a house!
